Position matters
A small defect beside a high chimney can require scaffold while the same defect near a low eaves may be straightforward.
A useful quote describes the work
Look for the area, repair method, access and main materials.
Useful evidence: if you can take a photograph safely, include enough of the roof to show where the defect sits. A close-up without context can be surprisingly unhelpful.
Different prices may describe different jobs
Ask what each contractor thinks is causing the problem before comparing totals.
Want the roof looked at?
Describe what you have actually seen and the weather in which it happens. That gives the roofer a useful starting point.
